Michael Jordan will join NBC Sports as a special contributor to their NBA coverage when the 2025-26 season begins.
NBC made the news on Monday morning, during its upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall, which previews the network's offers for the forthcoming television season.
"I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC," Jordan stated in a video statement. "The NBA on NBC was an important part of my career, and I'm thrilled to be a special contributor to the project. I'm excited to see you all when the NBA on NBC premieres in October."
After a 23-year hiatus, NBC will resume broadcasting the NBA. It held NBA rights from 1990 to 2002 and carried all six of Jordan's championships as a member of the Chicago Bulls.
This is Jordan's first time joining a network. His presence and comments in the 2020 documentary "The Last Dance" about his career and the end of the Bulls dynasty in 1998 generated a lot of attention.

"Michael's legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself," stated NBC Sports President Rick Cordella. "We're incredibly proud to have him join our coverage."
NBC's 11-year deal with the NBA and WNBA begins in October. Peacock will exclusively broadcast games on Monday nights, while NBC/Peacock will air regional doubleheaders on Tuesday. NBC and Peacock will also debut "Sunday Night Basketball" in January.
